Our Story
Why you should support Rwandan Farmers
Rwandan Farmers is a unique brand, owned in trust for Rwandan farmers where ALL of its profits are returned to the very people who toil daily in the fields of Rwanda…In other words by buying our products you quite literally put money back into the pockets of hard working Rwandese trying to lift their families up and out of poverty.
What does that really mean? Well to give you an example, if our first year sales of RWANDAN FARMERS COFFEE go to plan (please keep buying!) as well as being paid above Fair Trade prices for our coffee beans, Rwanda farmers will, as a community, receive a dividend of tens of thousands of pounds helping us to move up and out of poverty.
How will we spend that money? Through a democratic community forum we determine how to invest those funds; that may mean new schools, a healthcare programme, investment in a coffee washing station and it might just mean some fun items for our children, footballs, skipping ropes, books…
So how does that work? The Clinton Hunter Development Initiative (CHDI), a joint venture between the Foundations of former President Clinton and philanthropist, Sir Tom Hunter fund all the brand’s creation and operation in partnership with the farmers we assist.
CHDI has also worked with us to simplify the supply chain between farmer and store, to reduce the number of margin takers in that process so that the margin saved goes straight back to us to make the maximum difference to our lives.
Success for the Rwandan Farmers brand can only be founded on two things; giving you a product you love and are prepared to buy and making sure a store near you is prepared to sell you that product, for that we need your help. Sign up to be a FRIEND OF RWANDAN FARMERS by clicking the link, we will then add you to a customer database that we can use to demonstrate to retailers that they should sell our products… In turn we will send you, only if you want the information, new product information, online offers and of course the chance to visit Rwanda on an all expenses paid trip courtesy of CHDI… Join us, it’s going to be a fun journey for all of us!
